On May 11th, River Islands celebrated the incredible contributions of Bennie and Joyce Gatto with a special event. They now have a trail named after them! It was a heartwarming gathering with esteemed guests, dancing, and laughter. Lathrop community owes its fun and vibrant spirit to the amazing Gattos!

Memorial Day honors fallen heroes. In the River Islands community, the Veterans Club offers support for veterans founded by veteran Mike Dillman. It provides a space for camaraderie, assistance, and volunteers at local events, showing a continued commitment to serve even after military service.

Lathrop ranked 13 for the most fiscally healthy cities in California! The California State Auditor’s Office surveyed 423 cities using data from the 2019-20 financial year.

The Bay Area Radio Hall of Fame now features a longtime friend of River Islands, Marty Lurie. Inducted September 24, 2021, Lurie was recognized for his successful career as a sportscaster of KNBR’s Talkin’ Baseball, a pre-Giants game radio show. The celebration was held at the Basque Cultural Center in South San Francisco and hosted by the Broadcast Legends.
