At River Islands, there are so many ways to enjoy the great outdoors! Our beautiful community in Lathrop offers a variety of outdoor amenities, like scenic trails, amazing parks and gorgeous lakes, so there is always an exciting adventure steps away from your front door.

Now that summer has officially begun, it’s the perfect time to embrace the lakeside lifestyle by spending the day at one of our 13 awe-inspiring lakes. If you’re not into paddleboarding or kayaking, our community has launched RD 2062’s “Catch and Release” fishing program at many of the lakes within the community. This program allows River Islands and Lathrop residents with a valid City of Lathrop Fishing Permit to fish in most of the lakes in the community. The lakes that are not allowed to be used for fishing will display a “No Fishing” sign. Since this is a catch and release program, fish cannot be taken from the lakes.

To participate in this fun recreational activity, you must carry a valid permit at all times (security will be checking for permits and will enforce fishing rules). Please note that only residents of River Islands and the City of Lathrop may apply for a fishing permit. To obtain your permit, visit the Welcome Center daily from 12 PM to 5 PM and bring along proof of residency. You must be willing to have your picture taken for the permit to be valid.
